1970's flashback These are statistics that show the cost of living in the 1970's during Gerald Ford's presidency. These statistics also show the state of the stock market, the inflation rate, and the population.
This is significant because these statistics let us see how inexpensive amenities were in the 70's and how shocking it is to think that people thought these prices were outrageous due to the 8.7% inflation of the dollar. Jared C. |
Geraldine Ferraro campaign pin This is a picture of Geraldine Ferraro's campaign pin. Gerladine Ferraro was the first women invited to run alongside the candidate running for president as vice president. Ferraro was Walter Mondale's running mate, but they were defeated by incumbant president Ronald Reagan and his vice president George H. W. Bush.
This pin is significant because it represents women's equality and how far the feminist movement had come. Although Ferraro was not elected, she still opened up the political floor for future female politicians to come. Shayla C. |
George W. Bush's campaign ad This is one of George Bush's 2004 campaign ads. It lists issues in America like the economy, 9/11, and the .com boom's bust. It then says George Bush is a strong leader and he will guide America throught these trying times and he will rise to the challenge.
This is signficant because George Bush did not rise to the challenge and drowned our country in deeper debt. This shows how illequipped some people are at running countries and how sheepish some people are and they just buy in to the empty promises because it is easy. Rachel M. |
Hanging Chads This picture shows a man inspecting a ballot lookin for hanging chads during the 2000 election between George Bush and Al Gore. The race was so close that the entire election came down to Florida's votes which required an entire recount which revealed that George Bush had won the presidency.
This is significant because the hanging chad issue delayed the election results for a month. This dilemma essentially came down to the electoral college which was instituted by our founding fathers and determined the fate of the election. John M. |
